The Goldsboro Builders Supply family of companies began in 1947 when two brothers, Arthur Lee and Leon Perry, founded Perry Lumber Company in
Selma
,
NC
. In 1953, Arthur Lee came to
Goldsboro
to open a retail building supply store, "Goldsboro Builders Supply".
Mr. C.L. Lynn was a part owner and managed the store until he died in 1963. At that time Arthur Lee moved to
Goldsboro
to handle the day-to-day operations. In 1963, Arthur Lee also opened the first "GBS" affiliate "Perry Concrete".
Another brother then came to
Goldsboro
to run the concrete company until it was sold in 1980. In 1979, Arthur Lee had opened the first building supply affiliate in
Mt. Olive
,
NC
, Number One Builders Supply. In 1981, Builders Bargain Center of Goldsboro was founded. David Perry joined the company full time in 1982. |

In 1983, as a joint venture, Builders Bargain Center of Greenville was opened. In 1985, as another joint venture, a truss manufacturing plant was opened in
Kinston
,
NC
, "Coastal Building Components". These two ventures have since been sold.
In 1986, Arthur Lee died tragically in a house fire. At that time, David Perry became a minority shareholder with his uncle. In 1989, Builders Bargain Center of Kinston was founded in the old Coastal Building Components facility.
David Perry became the sole owner in 1990 of the four building supply locations when he bought his uncle's interest in the business.

In 2006, Goldsboro Builders Supply moved to its current location at 701 Patetown Road. The 15-acre facility offers 7,000 sq-ft of showroom/display area, 5,000 sq-ft of offices, 110,000 sq-ft of warehouse, an 8,000-sq-ft millwork shop, and a lumber yard.
In 2007, because of the customer base changing to a contractor base, Builders Bargain Center of Kinston changed its operating name to Kinston Builders Supply.
Today Goldsboro Builders Supply is in its 54th year of operation.
